Motherhood and Mothering - Essay Example A woman cannot feel herself fully realized if she is not a mother – the message is. As time passes and all your friends get married and start having children, you cannot help feeling pressure and feeling a kind of outcast. Everybody persuades you that being a mother is the greatest happiness in a woman’s life and that if you do not have children you cannot consider yourself a real woman. At that most of women give birth to their children just because it is prescribed by the society. There are certain scripts as to the number of children to be born, and to the age of becoming a mother. These scripts are transferred in families from generation to generation. Certainly, women usually do not realize that it is not quite their desire but merely the scenario imposed on them, believing that it is high time for them to have children. Many women give birth to children because they cannot find their way and mission in life. Children provide an opportunity to occupy one’s l ife-time with seemingly important things. As a result many mothers give no freedom to their children, interfering with their lives and imposing own worldviews and beliefs, not realizing that their children are quite different people, who came into this world to have their own experience and follow their own path. My interviewee is a usual representative of her time. Her understanding of motherhood reflects the common approach. She is not absorbed wholly with the idea of becoming a mother, but it is only because she is very young. It is clear from her utterances that she is simply waiting for the time when she will be ready to deny her freedom in favor of her children. My friend does realize that being a mother is a hard work, as she puts it â€Å"you have to work more than full-time employment.† Yet she starts thinking of children already dreaming of the reward in a form of children’s happy faces and mutual trust. The question is

Impact of Oil Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Impact of Oil - Assignment Example Moreover, during the same period there was increased demand for oil in numerous nations including China and India due to their increased industrialization (United States, Maloney, and Schumer, 2007). The subsequent instabilities in oil production and increase, in oil price per barrel of the 2000, s had no destructive effect on the United States’ Economy. Therefore, it is apparent that the current effects or instabilities on the oil prices have little effects on the United States’ economy, as it was the case in the 1970s and 1980s. The main reason towards these changed effects is that there has been a reduction on energy (oil and gas) spent in producing each dollar in the United States’ output. Additionally, there has been a shift in production techniques, that is, the current technologies only require a small amount of energy for production compared to the 1970s and 1980s technologies (United States, 1991). Economic experts estimate the current United States’ economy to be less than 33 percent dependent or sensitive to oil price fluctuation unlike over 55 percent less sensitivity in early 1980s and even more in the mid-1970s. (United States, Maloney, and Schumer, 2007) Finally, the Federal Government has since developed vigilant and adept monetary policies of handling inflationary

Marketing Communication Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Marketing Communication - Research Paper Example On the other hand, marketers have also realised the benefits brought about by the use of a combined sources of communication in their marketing endeavours which is widely known as integrated marketing communication plan (IMC) and this concept has significantly gained prominence during the current period (Kotler & Armstrong, 2004 ). As such, this essay seeks to evaluate the extent to which Apple Company effectively uses an integrated marketing communication plan. Explanation of IMC In order to evaluate the extent to which Apple utilises an integrated marketing communication plan in its operations, it is imperative to begin by defining the concept in order to get a clear understanding of its meaning. An integrated marketing communication plan is described as â€Å"a concept of marketing communication planning that seeks to evaluate the strategic roles of a variety of communication disciplines such as advertising, personal selling, sales promotion, direct marketing and public relations ,† (Cant, 2000 p.285). The aim is to coordinate the messages so that they convey the same thing at the same time to the same audience. Duplessis (2005) also posits to the effect that a company integrates or coordinates the use of these communication channels in order to give a clear and consistent message that is compelling to the customers about the products offered which also reinforces the image of the organisation. Integrated marketing communication strategy by Apple According to Buch (2010), Apple has adopted an iAd platform which is a strategy that is meant to support advertising within the iPhone fraternity. This platform integrates the use of the other applications on the iPhone at the same time and the strategy is good in that it enables the company to market its products to various users who can still enjoy the benefit of the other applications at the same time. Though this strategy has been criticised by other sectors of the society, it can be seen that it is very e ffective in as far as advertising of the products offered by Apple is concerned. The idea behind this strategy is to coordinate advertising with the other applications that can be found on the iPhone with the aim of achieving the intended objectives of remaining the leader in the iPhone and tablet industry by the company. Since 2010, it can be noted that Apple has continued to enjoy high volumes of revenue from the sale of iPhones regardless of the negative impacts in the economy that prevailed. Promotion of the products offered particularly the iPhones significantly contributed to the success of the company in its endeavour to waive negative impacts that were likely to impact on its operations. For instance, the company made efforts to spell the unique features of its products and these appealed to the interests of the customers. Promotional efforts such as the decrease in price of products such as the iPod in 2010 greatly contributed to high levels of customer satisfaction (AAPL, 2012). Other companies found it difficult to imitate and Apple harnessed this strategy in its IMC strategy with the aim of appealing to the interests of the customers. Apple’s operations were significantly impacted by various public relations crises in 2008. Despite being on top in terms of innovations in technology, Apple Inc was badly criticised by

Implementation of the Hand-off Communication Tool Assignment

Implementation of the Hand-off Communication Tool - Assignment Example They typically occur during shift changes. Inadequate communication has been cited as a major cause of medical errors (Reisenberg, Leitzsch, & Cunningham, 2010). Researchers who were exploring the causes and nature of human error in intensive care settings found out that verbal communication between nurse and physicians contributed to 37% of medical errors (Reisenberg, Leitzsch, & Cunningham, 2010). In an Australian study, more than 14,000 admissions were investigated. The study revealed that approximately 17% of the cases had an adverse event closely associated to it. Among the 17% of the cases, 11 percent were attributed to communication errors (Reisenberg, Leitzsch, & Cunningham, 2010). According to TRICARE (2005), the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) requires that institutions of healthcare ought to implement a standardized approach to handoff communications in an effort to meet the ever growing need of patient safety. Current Scenario The cur rent tool in use has been associated with a number of delays. Nurses would file reports indicating that beds were not ready; patients missed their medication, nurses themselves not being ready and the absence of vital patient information. A questionnaire was submitted to healthcare personnel in an effort determine the cause of the delays. ... In other clinical nursing scenarios, many errors have been identified that have resulted from communication problems. For instance omission of critical information as a result of poor communication between healthcare personnel, miscommunication that has results in misunderstanding of information, inability of the receiving nurse to contact the ongoing nurse due to communication problems, use of communication tools like reports that often become too routine and result in loss of focus by many healthcare personnel (Ong, &Coiera, 2011). Other problems arising due to absence of standard communication procedure include idle chatting during handoffs that dilutes the importance of handoffs, illegible handwriting in reports, reports with judgmental statements, absence of research on handoffs and data that is in support of best practices, ethnic, cultural and racial barriers which interfere with communication channels, language barriers that frustrate efforts to communicate effectively, and s taff who resist change that comes with implementation of new routines (Reisenberg, Leitzsch, & Cunningham, 2010). Implementation I pass the baton is a technique that was designed with a primary purpose of streamlining the handoff process and have a well established and standardized means of communication. The main idea behind the use of this tool is to minimize information loss and more importantly ensure that exchange of information occurs in a timely manner and with a high level of accuracy. The culture and needs of a healthcare institution often dictate how the technique will be utilized. I pass the baton stands for I-introduction, P-patient, A- assessment, S-situation, S-safety concerns, B-background, A-actions, T-timing, O-ownership, N-next. This tool requires that a
