The Rise Of The Renaissance Essay - 1525 Words

The Renaissance began in Florence, Italy around the 1500’s to about the 1700’s. Florence, Italy was the mecca of this rebirth because at the time Florence was extremely wealthy and the people of the city had political freedom and those new ideals of the Renaissance were not being condemned in Florence as they were other cities. This was a time where the arts and the logic of one’s own mind was valued rather than criticized, the antiquated medieval ideals no longer matched the needs of those who were living during the early Renaissance. Eventually, a term for this way of thinking arose and was called Humanism, and what humanism is, is an ideology where humans can lead themselves to create a prosperous life and instead of leaning on supernatural forces for answers. Humanists believe that humans have enough logic to create conclusions themselves. This brand-new way of thinking caused a lot of controversy because it did question God’s ability and the churchâ €™s power, but the ideas behind it are still heavily used today, even in the 21st century. Humanism in the early Renaissance is important because it called for thinking with reason, it allowed an appreciation for human body and mind, inspired authors and caused a shift in power. When the Renaissance began in Florence, there were a lot people who were wanting to separate from this medieval way of thinking that was not allowing any type of growth of the inner-self, and since medieval ideals were heavily based onShow MoreRelatedThe Rise Of The Renaissance1448 Words   |  6 Pagescalled the Renaissance. Official Obama plans to slash deficit in half Essay Example For Students

Official: Obama plans to slash deficit in half Essay WASHINGTON Having committed hundreds of billions of taxpayers dollars to revive the economy, President Barack Obama has another plan: to cut the federal deficit in half by the end of his first term. Obama will touch on his efforts to restore fiscal discipline at a White House fiscal policy summit on Monday and in an address to Congress on Tuesday. On Thursday he plans to send at least a summary of his first budget request to Capitol Hill. The bottom line, said an administration official Saturday, is to halve the federal deficit to $533 billion by the time his first term ends in 2013. He inherited a deficit of about $1. 3 trillion from former President George W. Bush. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the president has not yet released his budget for the fiscal year 2010, which begins Oct. 1, said the deficit will be shrunk by scaling back Iraq war spending, ending the temporary tax breaks enacted by the Bush administration for those making $250,000 or more a year, and streamlining government. We cant generate sustained growth without getting our deficits under control, Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address that seemed to preview his intentions. He said his budget will be sober in its assessments, honest in its accounting, and lays out in detail my strategy for investing in what we need, cutting what we dont, and restoring fiscal discipline. Obamas budget also is expected to take steps toward his campaign promises of establishing universal health care and lessening the countrys reliance on foreign oil. Obama has pledged to make deficit reduction a priority both as a candidate and a president. But he also has said economic recovery must come first. Last week, he signed into law the $787 billion stimulus measure that is meant to create jobs but certainly will add to the nations skyrocketing national debt. He also is implementing the $700 billion financial sector rescue passed on Bushs watch; about $75 billion of which is being used toward Obamas plan to help homeowners facing foreclosure. .

Muhammad, the founder of Islam, followed his revelation, and sought this new faith upon Arabia. Correspondingly, Islam was a monotheistic religion that disseminated throughout the regions of the Arabian Peninsula, Southeast Asia, India, and the Iberian Peninsula from 622-1500 C. E. Furthermore, Muslim rule extended to many parts of Afro- Eurasia due to military expansion, and Islam later expanded through the activities of merchants and missionaries. Although the Bedouins, Ummayyads, and Sufis facilitated Islam, it was through trade, conquests, and influences that led to the spread of this religion through the Arabian Peninsula, Southeast Asia, India, and the Iberian Peninsula. Aging I.Q. essays

Aging I.Q. essays After taking the What is your aging I.Q. quiz I received a score of 16 out of 20. I think my knowledge of aging is above average because I have spent a lot of time with both my grandparents recently in my life. From doing chores to helping them do the things I take for granted such as grocery shopping and cooking meals. They both lead normal lives and can easily function in society. They still live on their own and ask for little help from others. I chose to help them because I think its good to have respect for my elders. Sometimes my grandfather can be moody and act as if he doesnt appreciate the helping hand. My mother says just to ignore him because his whole life he ran the show, he owned a landscaping business and ran it for over 40 years. I could totally understand why he wouldnt want someone coming in and trying to help him when he has worked for everything he has. I have put little thought towards my later years in life. I guess I am too busy thinking about the now. If I had to plan my later years in life I would definitely want to be independent of others. I would like to remain healthy in my older age so that I can care for myself. It is very important to me that I live a healthy lifestyle now so that I wont have to depend on others for lifes necessities. I believe if I surround myself with loved ones, and keep the close friends I have in my life now then I will be happy when I get older. I dont think there would be anything worse then to grow old alone. I dont mean having a wife, but rather close friends to whom I know I can trust and depend on. A wife is whole other story, if and when I get married I will definitely consider what will our older years be like. I will ask myself is this relationship based solely a fascination or is it a deep down love. Because I believe that is the only kind that will last until the end. ...

25 Pick Up Lines From Movies

25 Pick Up Lines From Movies At the outset, lets make it clear to all men reading this article: pick up lines usually dont help land you a date. In most cases, you will only end up offending the woman you wish to woo. If you try a funny pick up line, you run the risk of the joke falling flat. A nerdy one may never make the mark, especially if the woman does not understand your jargon. A clever pick up line may not cut ice if the woman does not like Mr. Smarty Pants. Some men believe that flattery can help them win a date. While women love to be showered with attention, they can easily see through fake flattery. Often such pick up lines become juicy tidbits for women to share among their girlfriends over cocktails. What Makes Pick Up Lines Fun? Pick up lines could be great starting points for conversation. Of course, if you were to approach an equally confident and bold woman, she will quite likely snub your overtures. Pick up lines with sexual undertones usually put off women who view men as predators who are only looking for sex. So dont try to pick women with cheesy lines like, â€Å"If youre feeling down, I can feel you up.† Lines like that wont earn you a date, but will surely earn you a slap! Think of pick up lines as a part of a mating ritual. After all, it’s a delicate dance, where both the man and the woman need to be attracted to each other. What Women Really Think About Pick Up Lines Women who are looking for a lifetime partner are usually not impressed by pick up lines. Ballast Tank Repair Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Ballast Tank Repair - Assignment Example Mild steel by nature offers poor resistance to corrosion because of its inherent heterogeneous impurities, which facilitate emergence of anodic and cathodic nodes on the surface of the steel. Oxygen and water react with these nodes vigorously causing the metal to lose its electrons to form metallic ions, represented by the anodic reaction: 4 Fe ? 4 Fe++ + 8 e? Iron Ferrous Electrons Atom Ion The above electrochemical corrosion process is feasible only if there is a suitable electron acceptor to combine with the electrons released by the iron atom. Seawater containing dissolved atmospheric oxygen readily serves this purpose. The oxygen is electrochemically reduced to hydroxyl ions in the following cathodic reaction: 2 O2 + 4 H2O + 8 e? ? 8 OH? Oxygen Water Electrons Hydroxyl Ions The heterogeneous character of steel allows for some of its sites to favour the anodic reaction and for others to the cathodic reaction. The ferrous ions and hydroxyl ions formed combine together to produce f errous hydroxide: 4 Fe++ + 8 OH? ? 4Fe (OH) 2 Ferrous Hydroxide The ferrous hydroxide formed reacts with more oxygen to form hydrated ferric oxide, the familiar reddish brown rust – the telltale symptom of corrosion. ... oxygen concentration, water temperature, pH and the presence of metals in the form of dissolved salts such as oxides, chlorides, carbonates, sulphates and sulphites in the mineral state of their stable oxidised condition. In view of the large amount of energy expended for the extraction of a metal by the reduction process, there is a sustained pressure on the metal to revert back to its stable low energy oxidised state in the given environmental conditions. The driving force for corrosion is the energy differential between the pure metal and its oxidised forms in the scenario of ever varying ambient conditions. Pitting Corrosion Penetrative localized attack resulting in formation of deep crevices causing thinning of the parent steel material and revealed by rust is characteristic of Pitting Corrosion. It takes place more often in submerged bottoms, inaccessible edges and corners, and at high temperature locations like in the hull of ships where diffusion is easy. The locations most s usceptible to corrosion in water ballast tanks are: upper surface of face plate of bottom longitudinals, bottom girders and bottom transverses; upper surface of shell and bulkhead longitudinals; Cut edges of slots and lightening holes in horizontal girders; upper surface of horizontal stiffeners and brackets; deck longitudinals; upper part of deck transverses; and, upper part of longitudinal and transverse bulkheads. If left unattended, rust can grow at the rate of 0.22 mm/year, though the assessed average rate is 0.005 mm/year. ASTM D 610 Standard, supported by ISO 4628: 2003 Standard provides further insight into the mechanics and assessment of the degree of rusting. Corrosion Prevention The popular prevention techniques in modern use have been logically derived from the manifestations of

Effective Communication Essay Example for Free

Effective Communication Essay Effective communication is the process of transferring information or thoughts to someone or a group of people by way of speaking, writing or body language. According to â€Å"Livestron.com† (2014), â€Å"Effective communication extends the concept to require that transmitted content is received and understood by someone in the way it was intended. The goals of effective communication include creating a common perception, changing behaviors and acquiring information† (para. 1). It is important that the person receiving the information be able to clearly and concisely understand the information from the sender. The most effective and ineffective techniques for sharing information, techniques that can be applied or modified in a health care work environment and ways in which technology may affect these processes will be discussed in this paper. Effective Communication Techniques Effective communication begins with encoding, or being able to clearly and concisely relay the message so that the receiver will be able to decode the message. Another important part of effective communication is making sure the receiver properly understands the message that was being sent. When considering the context of the communication it improves the effectiveness. Context includes age, religion, sexual orientation and intellectual abilities of the receiver. Body language, or non-verbal communication includes eye contact, facial expressions, posture and position of the hands and arms. When body language is consistent with verbal content it improves understanding, and when body language is inconsistent with verbal content it creates confusion about the message. Emotions can interfere with effective communication. For example: messages maybe negatively affected if the sender is angry. While working in community mental health industry, an individual will be faced with constant changes in the way they communicate with each other, whether it be with the psychiatrist, counselor, patient, drug representative or another health care provider. I found the most used forms of communicating with other people were face-to-face communication, phone, e-mail and faxes. I feel the most effective way of communication is face-to-face because communication signals can provide insight to what is critical in gaining an understanding of other’s perspectives. Ineffective  Ways of Communication Ineffective communication can be any disruption or failure in the communication process. Language is an obvious communication barrier because if a person does not understand the language the communication fails. Another barrier is when a person has an idea but lacks the confidence to speak up the communication process fails. According to â€Å"Chron.com† (2014) â€Å"Removing barriers will increase your odds of communicating effectively. Both senders and receivers should pay attention to others in the process, making eye contact, listening intently and avoiding distractions. By being empathetic, you are imagining what it is like to be in the other person’s situation, which helps the communication process† (para. 5). How These Techniques Can Be Applied or Modified Communication is the key to succeeding and will allow coworkers in a health care environment to work well together. â€Å"A team is a small group of people with complementary skills, who work together to achieve a shared purpose and hold themselves mutually accountable for its accomplishment. Teamwork is the process of people working together to accomplish these goals† (Lombardi, Schermerhorn, Kramer, 2007, p. 91). Team members need to start out slowly in order to accomplish good communication skills. All team members should learn how to work with their team and be able to control any conflicts that might occur. How Technology Affects the Communication Process Technology has impacted the health care field in a positive and rewarding way. For instance, the electronic medical record allows the user to exchange health care information electronically and can help provide a higher quality and safer care for the patients while creating enhancements for the health care organization. The electronic medical record provides up-to-date, accurate information about patient at the point of care which allows quick access to patient records for a more coordination of care. There are so many things that technology has provided the health care industry: MRI’s, CAT Scans, ultrasounds and laparoscopic surgeries. Technology will always bring change and a positive outlook to the health care industry. In conclusion, effective communication helps to better understand a person or situation. It enables us to resolve differences and build trust and respect. This paper covered the most effective and ineffective ways for sharing information and ideas, techniques that can be applied or modified in a health care work environment and how technology impacts the communication process. How To Writing A Research Essay :: essays research papers

How To Writing A Research Essay The toughest part of the essay, for me, was taking all the information I had gained and reduce it to a mere few pages essay. After all, quality is better than quantity. I feel that if I shortened my essay, it would be weaker because I couldn't include everything that I had researched. This would mean that much of the time I spent and the information I had gathered in my research was going to waste. Reviewing the finished product, I realized that my shortened essay did in by half the pages did what my old one could not do in a few hundred -- it made a concise, focused argument. By focusing my essay, I was able to include only the best and most important points from my research, while discarding more extraneous ones. I learned that a research writer is like a funnel; he or she must take in a wide range of information at the beginning, and turn it into a narrow argument in the end. An essay is more than just uniting facts from your research, it is an opportunity for you to voice your own opinion. An essay with just facts is informative, but not very interesting and get boring. It tends to lose your audience.. A strong essay is one that uses facts to support an argument based on the writer's analysis of the topic. Even though this is easier said then done. Always keep the essay question in mind during your research. Ask yourself: "What do I need to know in order to answer the question?" Have a system of how you are going to answer that question. Find plenty of information to support your argument. Throughout your research you will surely find challenges.

Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks

Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks both have their own unique flavors of coffee. â€Å"More than 100 million people in the U. S. alone drink coffee every day. † (Information taken from The National Coffee Drinking Trends Study, 2004 ) Each of these people do have a preference to which chain of coffee makers they chose. It can almost be broken up into a red state blue state debate. These two are divided in coffee bean choice, style and even price. They both define our culture in a unique fashion. It all began with the simple invention of the donut.â€Å"Captain Hanson Crockett Gregory was the inventor of the donut with a hole in the middle. William Rosenberg, the food-franchising pioneer founded the Dunkin' Donuts chain. Rosenberg opened his first coffee and doughnut shop, called the Open Kettle, in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1948. The name was changed to Dunkin' Donuts in 1950. According to â€Å"Donuts and the Salvation Army† – While The Army may not have invented the f irst donut, it can certainly take credit for [helping] the popularity of donuts today. June 4-5 marks the 61st anniversary of Salvation Army ‘Donut Day† In Chicago. The tag day was established in 1938 to honor the work of World War I Salvation Army †¢'lassies' who prepared donuts for thousands of soldiers in World War I. † www. http://inventors. about. com/library/inventors/bldonut. htm The donut made way for a company based on the donut and of course their coffee. The first company to be started based on their coffee was Dunkin Donuts. â€Å"It all started in 1946 when Mr. William Rosenberg founded Industrial Luncheon Services, a company that delivered meals and coffee break snacks to customers in the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts. The success of Industrial Luncheon Services led Rosenberg to open his first coffee and donut shop, the â€Å"Open Kettle†. Then, in 1950, Rosenberg opened the first store known as Dunkin' Donuts in Quincy, Massachusetts. † (www. dunkindonuts. com) Massachusetts started it all. The branch grew from their little by little. Starbucks later opened their doors with their own unique take of Dunkin Donuts. â€Å"The story began in 1971 when the first Starbucks opened at Pike Place Market, which is Seattle's and the Nation's oldest Farmer's Market (opened August 17, 1907).But at this time the company was a local coffee roasting facility. That remained their core business until 1982 when Howard Schulz joined the company. He was the new marketing executive and began right away to convince more and more local cafes, upscale restaurants, and hotels to buy Starbucks coffee. The turning point for the company and the begin of writing coffee history should be one year later when Schulz traveled through Italy. He got inspired by the old Italian coffee bar tradition to serve fresh brewed Espressi and Cappuccini. He convinced the Starbucks founders to give his idea a chance and in 1985 he opened the first coffe e bar in Seattle and gave it the Italian touch by naming it ‘Il Giornale'.† (Credit: Starbucks Corporation; magazineUSA. com) Just like Dunkin Donuts the demand for more Starbucks arose. Dunkin Donuts known for its simplicity and unique colored orange and red cups. Starbucks however is known for many different qualities. â€Å"Without even paying for the publicity, the name Starbucks had become synonymous with fine coffee, hip hangouts, and upscale image.(Pendergrast 368) But the uniqueness of flavors is one of the most important things, when it comes down to who will by who. Dunkin Donuts just recently trying to keep up with Starbucks launched a new line of flavored drinks. â€Å"The fresh new flavors include Blueberry, Coconut, Raspberry, Marshmallow, Caramel, Toasted Almond and Cinnamon. Iced coffee enthusiasts will be given the opportunity to sample Dunkin' Donuts latest flavors in participating stores, and also when the Ice Lounge sampling van tour stops by severa l cities and towns in America. †(www. dunkindonuts.com)These flavors can be added or combined with various items such as Original Blend Coffee, Dunkin' Decaf, Iced Coffee , Iced Lattes, Hot Cappuccinos and Lattes, Hot Chocolate, and their Coolattas. This adds a lot of different variety to these drinks. Making everyone feel like an individual, having their own individual flavor and drink. Coolattas have become a growing trend among people as well. More and more people are trying iced coffee as a quick afternoon pick-me-up. According to the National Coffee Association, more than 41 million Americans switch to iced coffee during the spring and summer months. And millions of these iced coffee lovers turn to Dunkin' Donuts because they recognize the quality of their iced coffee stands apart from the competition, made with the same high quality Arabica beans used to make hot coffee. Although these are becoming a fast hit the most popular flavors sold at Dunkin Donuts are Original Ble nd, Hazelnut, French Vanilla, Cafe Blend and their Dunkin Decaf. Discovering your favorite Starbucks coffee begins with an understanding of where they are grown. They have a special roasted blend of coffee from a different section of the world.Examples, Latin America, Africa, and Asia. The other uniqueness of Starbucks is that they take their unique flavors and sell them outside their stores. They sell iced drinks to ice cream in their flavors. They also have a unique blend and selection in their teas. Something Dunkin Donuts has not take advantage of. â€Å"Hot Teas (Filterbags and Full Leaf) Whether you are looking to soothe your psyche or revive your spirit, Tazo has a black, green or herbal tea to suit you. Bottled Iced and Juiced Teas These crisp and refreshing bottled beverages are a delightful departure from traditional teas.Artfully blended and freshly-brewed in the Tazo tradition, these bottled beverages are so invigorating, anytime becomes a good time for tea. Tea Lattes Tazo Tea Lattes expand the notion of what tea can be. Drawing from cultures, these exotic, full-flavored teas are lightly sweetened and served with other milk, and are delicious hot or cold. † (www. star bucks. com) Also Starbucks has its own special brand of liquor, which comes in coffee and in cream. Though both make coffee, they receive their beans from uniquely different places.â€Å"Dunkin' Donuts uses 100-percent Arabica coffee beans and has its own coffee specifications, which are recognized by the industry as a superior grade of coffee. Based on Dunkin' Donuts Quality (DDQ) specifications, coffee is milled and processed specifically for the company. † (www. dunkindonuts. com) In a slightly different area and less known about is Starbucks. â€Å"Because coffee grows in many different environments around the world, there is no one best way to grow coffee. But there is general agreement that utilizing shade trees for growing coffee can help sustain a healthier eco system and promote biodiversity.Starbucks on-going support for farmers who produce Shade Grown Mexico is a great example of helping farmers while preserving our natural environment. † (www. Starbuck. com) Starbucks always known for its environmental friendly attitude has made the growing of coffee beans into a cause. Besides the difference of beans, the number of stores and locations are also unique. Dunkin Donuts attaching itself to Baskin-Robbins and Togo, uses the different companies as an advantage to set up shop in various places.â€Å"Based in Canton, Massachusetts, Dunkin' Brands Inc. is part of U. K. -based Allied Domecq PLC and is responsible for the worldwide development and marketing of quick service restaurant brands including Dunkin' Donuts, Baskin-Robbins and Togo's. With the combined retail units of these three brands, Dunkin' Brands is one of the world's largest quick service restaurant companies, represented by more than 12,000 worldwide points of distributio n, including approximately 7,600 units in the United States and 4,400 units in 46 countries around the world. † (www. Dunkindonuts. com) Starbucks also has an impressive amount of stores open also.â€Å"Starbucks operates and licenses more than 8,500 coffee shops in more than 30 countries. The shops offer coffee drinks and food items, as well as beans, coffee accessories, teas, and CDs. Starbucks operates more than 5,200 of its shops in five countries (mostly in the US), while licensees operate more than 2,800 units (primarily in shopping centers and airports). The company also owns and franchises the Seattle's Best Coffee and Torrefazione Italia chains in the US (more than 100 shops). In addition, Starbucks markets its coffee through grocery stores and licenses its brand for other food and beverage products.†http://www. hoovers. com/starbucks-corporation/–ID__15745–/free-co-factsheet. xhtml Both impressive in numbers. Dunkin donuts and Starbucks each make sure that they have stores everyone for the customers satisfaction. Their customers are their number one priority beside of course their profits. Each store gathers in large amounts of money for their business. Both have amazingly strong stocks and profits for being a coffee shop. Business Magazine says that Dunkin Donuts is the â€Å"largest coffee and donut shop chin in the world† (www. business.com) The brand itself has made a huge profit. â€Å"Dunkin’ Donuts delivered an 11% growth in global system-wide sales driven by a 5. 2% increase in US same store sales and a 7% increase in global distribution points. The strong growth in same store sales growth which continues to outpace the overall QSR industry has been driven by product innovation and effective marketing. The innovation program has successfully launched a new range of coffee offerings, which include latte, cappuccino and espresso products, in 1,800 stores in the New England and Mid Atlantic areas. The lau nch has been supported by the introduction of new high speed coffee machines which maintain Dunkin’ Donuts reputation for speed, quality and value for money. In addition, a new limited time offer hot apple pie product has been very well received and helped to extend Dunkin’ Donuts sales into the traditionally quieter afternoon period. Marketing campaigns have focused around the new coffee offerings and highly successful regional program with Curt Schilling, the Boston Red Sox All-Star baseball player.. (King) Just as well the Starbucks company has made a name of itself and benefits of its brand name also.â€Å"As anyone who bought stock in Starbucks in the last decade knows, business has been good. Starbucks’ share price has risen almost tenfold in 10 years, and the company has steadily raised retail prices while wholesale prices fell. Fair trade coffee was initially plagued by complaints about bad quality, yet producers have made great strides in improving the quality of the brew and it has found a comfortable niche in the specialty coffee market, alongside organic coffee and other similar labels, such as â€Å"sustainable coffee.†After years of public pressure from activists who singled it out because of its high visibility and yuppie clientele, Starbucks now sells fair trade coffee in all its stores and has given it prominent play in university markets. Rice, whose organization gets paid 10 cents a pound by Starbucks to certify its fair trade coffee, thinks it’s time that activists turn their pressure elsewhere. But when it comes down to it statistically and other wise Dunkin Donuts wins. â€Å"For years, the product lines of the major U. S. brewed coffee sellers have been well defined. On the high end there is Starbucks Corp., with 5,439 locations in the U. S. During the past decade, the chain has made its expensive cappuccinos, frappuccinos, espressos and lattes part of the regular lexicon. On the other end, there is D unkin' Donuts, which has 4,100 stores. Although concentrated in the Northeast, Dunkin' Donuts is the nation's largest seller of regular, nonflavored brewed coffee through fast-food outlets, with a 17% market share, compared with 15% for McDonald's Corp. and 6% for Starbucks, according to market-research organization NPD Group. † (Ball) Statistically Starbucks looks like it is much behind Dunkin Donuts. This maybe why it has become more abundant and more commercial over the years. Cost could be the big factor why Dunkin Donuts is the number one coffee brewery in the country. â€Å"On average, the new Dunkin' Donut drinks cost at least 20% less than Starbucks's offerings — and an espresso shot is just 99 cents, compared with $1. 45 at Starbucks. â€Å" (Ball) Dunkin Donuts keeps its prices low and offers a high quality product. It gives the people what they want at a price everyone can afford. But the uniqueness of flavor and the uniqueness of product is a huge factor. T he conclusion is the flavor you are craving is the on you are going to chose.Questions1. Does quality or cost matter more to you?2. Regular coffee or a fancy drink like a cappuccino or espresso?3. Friends as They Are In Search for a Soul Mate

Friends as They Are In Search for a Soul Mate People cannot be socially isolated for long. No matter how independent one might be, there will always be the necessity for communication. Hence, the need to search for friend arises. Although types of friends are extremely numerous and can be split into categories based on countless number of principles, the best way to categorize types of friends is to consider how close they are to each other.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Friends as They Are: In Search for a Soul Mate specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The so-called bosom friends are the most well known type of friends; however, weirdly enough, very few people can actually name the ones that fall under the given category. A bosom friend is the kind of a person that knows every single detail of his pal’s life and always keeps in touch with the latter. The necessity to maintain constant communication is, perhaps, the basic obstacle on people’s way to become bosom buddies. Indeed, what seemed possible in the childhood, when most of the problems were solved by adults, and children had as much time for communication as possible, becomes hardly attainable in adult life, when a person barely manages to split his/her time between his/her family and work. The second type of friendship presupposes much more prosaic relationships. The friends talk to each other on a regular basis because they go to the same school or college or work in the same office. However, as soon as one of them resigns or moves to another city, the communication ends, since both are too lazy to call or send an e-mail to each other. Finally, there is the third type of friends. These friends share their moral principles, poke fun at the same things and find it enticing to talk to each other. Such friends may be separated for quite long and resume their friendship afterwards disregarding the time that they spent apart from each other. Speaking of which type of friends is the best, one must mention that the choice of a friend depends greatly on one’s personality and character traits. For some people, it is crucial to have a devoted friend by their side seven days a week, which means that they should go with the first category of friends. For some people, it is crucial that they could have enough time to arrange their private life and career, which means that they clearly need the second type of a friend. Finally, some might enjoy being alone and, thus, need the third kind of a friend, that is, the one whom they will not depend much on.Advertising Looking for essay on social sciences? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Personally, I prefer the third type of friends, since I tend to be moody and often need time to be alone. While such type of relationships does not presuppose being close to each other, it not necessarily means that it cannot be defined as friendship. Quite on th e contrary, this is the kind of friendship that grown up people need; with friends like the one described above, one will be able to build trustworthy and long lasting relationships with. This is the kind of friendship that does not need proofs for its own existence; instead, such friends feel the bond between them nearly intuitively and, thus, become closely related to each other due to the trust that they have in each other. However, I must admit that the given type of relationships requires that the two friends should put considerable effort in their communication at the very start of their friendship. Therefore, I assume that the third kind of a friend is the hardest one to find and yet the best that a man can have.

Understanding Celibacy, Abstinence, and Chastity

Understanding Celibacy, Abstinence, and Chastity The word â€Å"celibacy† is typically used to refer to a voluntary decision to remain unmarried or to abstain from engaging in any sexual activity, usually for religious reasons. While the term celibacy is typically used in reference only to persons who choose to remain unmarried as a condition of sacred religious vows or convictions, it can also apply to the voluntary abstinence from all sexual activity for any reason. While they are often used interchangeably, celibacy, abstinence, and chastity are not exactly the same. Celibacy is generally  recognized as a voluntary choice to remain unmarried or engage in any form of sexual activity, usually in order to fulfill a religious vow. In this sense, one can accurately be said to be practicing sexual abstinence as a condition of his or her vow of celibacy. Abstinence - also called continence - refers to the often temporary strict avoidance of all forms of sexual activity for any reason. Chastity is a voluntary lifestyle that involves far more than abstaining from sexual activity. Coming from the Latin word castitas, meaning â€Å"purity,† chastity embraces abstinence from sexual activity as a praiseworthy and virtuous quality according to the standards of morality held by a person’s particular culture, civilization, or religion. In modern times, chastity has become associated with sexual abstinence, particularly before or outside of marriage or other type of exclusively committed relationship. Celibacy and Sexual Orientation The concept of celibacy as a decision to remain unmarried applies to both traditional and same-sex marriage. Similarly, the lifestyle restrictions implied by the terms abstinence and chastity refer to both heterosexual and gay sexual activity. In the context of celibacy related to religion, some gay people choose to be celibate in keeping with their religion’s teachings or doctrine on gay relationships. In an amendment adopted in 2014, the American Association of Christian Counselors banned the promotion of the largely discredited process of conversion therapy for gay persons, encouraging the practice of celibacy instead. Celibacy in Religion In the context of religion, celibacy is practiced in different ways. Most familiar of these is the mandatory celibacy of male and female members of the active clergy and monastic devotees. While most female religious celibates today are Catholic nuns living in residential cloisters, there have been notable solitary celibate female figures, such the anchoress - a female hermit - Dame Julian of Norwich, born in 1342. In addition, religious celibacy is sometimes practiced by laypersons or clergy members in a faith not requiring it out of devotion or to allow them to perform certain religious services. Brief History of Religiously-Motivated Celibacy Derived from the Latin word caelibatus, meaning â€Å"state of being unmarried,† the concept of celibacy has been acknowledged by most major religions throughout history. However, not all religions have acknowledged it favorably. Ancient Judaism strongly rejected celibacy. Similarly, early Roman polytheistic religions, practiced between about 295 B.C.E. and 608 C.E., held it to be an aberrant behavior and imposed severe fines against it. The emergence of Protestantism around 1517 CE saw a rise in the acceptance of celibacy, although the Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church never adopted it. The attitudes of the Islamic religions regarding celibacy have also been mixed. While the Prophet Muhammad denounced celibacy and recommended marriage as a commendable deed, some Islamic sects embrace it today. In Buddhism, most ordained monks and nuns choose to live in celibacy believing it to be one of the prerequisites to reaching enlightenment. While most people associate religious celibacy with Catholicism, the Catholic Church actually imposed no requirement of celibacy on its clergy for the first 1,000 years of its history. Marriage remained a matter of choice for Catholic bishops, priests, and deacons until the Second Lateran Council of 1139 mandated celibacy for all members of the clergy. As a result of the Council’s decree, married priests were required to give up either their marriage or their priesthood. Faced with this choice, many priests left the church. While celibacy remains a requirement for Catholic clergy today, an estimated 20% of Catholic priests worldwide are believed to be legally married. Most married priests are found in the Catholic Churches of Eastern nations like the Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. While these churches recognize the authority of the Pope and the Vatican, their rituals and traditions more closely follow those of the Eastern Orthodox Church, which had never embraced celibacy. Reasons for Religious Celibacy How do religions justify mandatory celibacy? No matter what they are called in a given religion, the â€Å"priest† is exclusively trusted to perform the sacred function of communicating the needs of the people to God or other heavenly power. The efficacy of the priesthood is based on the congregation’s trust that the priest is properly qualified and possesses the ritual purity necessary to speak to God on their behalf. Religions that require it of their clergy consider celibacy to be a prerequisite for such ritual purity. In this context, religious celibacy is likely to have been derived from ancient taboos that viewed sexual power as vying with religious power, and the sex act itself as having a polluting effect on priestly purity.   Reasons for Non-Religious Celibacy For many people who do so, choosing a celibate lifestyle has little or nothing to do with an organized religion. Some may feel that eliminating the demands of sexual relationships allows them to better focus on other important aspects of their lives, like career advancement or education. Others may have found their past sexual relationships to have been particularly unfulfilling, damaging, or even painful. Still others choose to abstain from sex out of their unique personal beliefs of what is â€Å"proper behavior.† For example, some people may choose to adhere to the morality-based tradition of abstaining from sex outside of marriage. Beyond personal beliefs, other celibates consider abstinence from sex to be the only absolute method of avoiding sexually-transmitted diseases or unplanned pregnancies. Outside of religious vows and obligations, celibacy or abstinence is a matter of personal choice. While some may consider a celibate lifestyle extreme, others may consider it liberating or empowering. Key Terms Celibacy is a voluntary choice to remain unmarried or engage in any form of sexual activity, usually in order to fulfill a religious vow. A person who practices celibacy is said to be â€Å"celibate.†Ã‚  Abstinence  is also called â€Å"continence† and is the often temporary strict avoidance of all forms of sexual activity for any reason.Chastity  -   from the Latin word castitas, meaning â€Å"purity† - embraces abstinence as a praiseworthy virtue according to the prevailing social standards of morality.

However, due to Singapores trade and financial openness, the continued turmoil in the euro zone debt crisis and other adverse external factors will have a significant impact on the economic growth of Singapore. Experts predict that, if the euro debt crisis worsens ¼Ã…’Coupled with the slow U.S. economic recovery ¼Ã…’Singapore this years economic growth rate has dropped to 1% or less. However, in Singapore the internal environment of low unemployment and low interest rates will be able to support domestic demand. Singapore has sufficient policy space to mitigate the adverse impact of the global slowdown and financial market turmoil. Although the global economic outlook is not optimistic, although the global economic outlook is not optimistic, Slowdown in external demand, Decline in trade and other adverse factors will impact on the Singapore economy. But Food, beverages and tobacco industry GDP in the first half of 2012 still an increase of 4.0%; Singapores economic growth is expected to rebound to 3.4% in 2013 (2012). So, in this light that Singapore economic turmoil for the food, beverage and tobacco industry will not be too adversely affected. 3.1.3 Socio-demographical factor Population is constitute the market most basic factors, Demographic factors of a country or region, In a certain sense to decide the countrys market size and market appeal. According to the 2010 Population Census in Singapore, the total pulsations are 5.08 million. Citizens and permanent residents is 3.77 million, a 15.3% increase over 2000.Sex ratio: 0.95:1.00. Singapore citizen is use racial to distinction: Chinese accounted for 74.1% of the population, 13.4% of the Malaysian, Indians 9.2% and Eurasians 3.3%, the main religions are Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Christianity and Hinduism (2010). Singapores growing population is conducive to the increase in the Singapore market size and market appeal. Due to women, young people and the elderly is a major consumer of herbal tea crowd, the female population is more than male population is conducive to the development of the herbal tea industry. Tea culture originated in China, the Chinese people love tea, Singapore has 74.1% of the Chinese, and this will bring good prospects for herbal tea sales. 3.1.4 Technological factor Technological factor affecting the competitiveness of the products, technological innovation that can enhance the product vitality, flower tea stores itself is an innovative, in Singapore market the most of the beverage industry are tea stores, coffee stores and there are also have many herbal tea store, but this herbal tea stores is very common and have a long history , flower tea store is all use the flowers as a raw material, flower tea also call herbal tea, health, beauty and other features will attract the attention and love of many consumers. Followed by the technological innovation is the innovation of the product itself, the company will have a bold innovation for herbal tea tastes, not only ordinary single herbal tea, will also introduce a comprehensive herbal tea, fruit mixed herbal tea and flavor spices herbal tea, each quarter of the company also will launch a new herbal tea, in order to adapt to market demand progress. Finally, environmental innovation will bring physical and sensory enjoyment to the customer, the store will set up three different styles of drink tea zone, use of flower, forest and bamboo as the main theme, the chair will only appear on the form of the swing, and strive to allow customers to experience the immersive feel. 3.1.5 Legislative factor Legal factors include consumer law, antitrust law, discrimination law and health and safety law. Singapore law from strict system of is also the world famous. Strict legal system for Businessmen bring protection also brings some constraints. Singapore to amend the Consumer Protection Act in February 2012 and starting at September, The vast majority of legitimate business retailers will not have much effect; there will not be too much of the burden. Singapore is a small country and has small population, resource scarcity, so Singapore attaches great importance to food safety issues, and has been to strengthen the food safety law, intended to eliminate and reduce the inflow of substandard food. The company in order to ensure the smooth good development in Singapore, the company will comply with all laws and regulations, not only to protect the companys own interests but also to protect the interests of consumers. 3.1.6 Environmental factor Singapores population high density, more people and less land, coupled with the perennial high temperatures and rainy and other environmental problems. Just have very few people planting flowers and tea, the tea mainly relied on imports or a small part of the territory of the processing, Not only imports of Chinese tea, but also imported British tea. Therefore, due to the special environment of Singapore, flower tea generally require from Chinese imports, although the tea in China is high quality and reasonable price, However, due to imports still lead to the cost of flower tea increase. Singapore has relatively long drink herbal tea culture, Singapore is a tropical region, it is easy to heatstroke, and tea can resolve summer heat. Also, because Singapore belongs to the developed countries, the pursuit of a healthy diet is relatively high, more and more people love to drink tea. So comprehensive market environment in Singapore, flower tea for its health features will conquer Singaporeans. 3.2 Porters Five Forces à ¤Ã‚ »- (Source: created for this project adapted from internet) Michael Porter is widely recognized as the greatest and most influential thinkers of business theory, praised as the father of competitive strategy. Porters five forces model in the last two decades is one of the well-known concept of the corporate strategy makers. For the strategy makers, in the implementation of any strategy that may affect a companys strategic position, these five forces play an indispensable leverage. Collection of five competitive forces can determine the profitability of a company. The five forces energy intensity will be different in different industries, and will change with the development of the industry. (Charles and Gareth 2009) These five forces are: Rivalry among competitors Threat of new entrants Bargaining power of buyers Bargaining power of suppliers The threat of substitute (Source: created for this business plan) 3.2.1 Rivalry among competitors (strong) The competition will lead to in marketing, research and developments put into or reduce, the results will reduce the companys profits. Factors affecting the intensity of competition: Exit barriers, industry concentration, industry growth rate, degree of product differentiation, brand recognition, opponents difference degree and so on. In Singapore market has a dedicated sales flower tea competitiveness is few, But in the entire beverage industry competitors are more ¼Ã…’Like milk tea store (KOI, Sweat talk), herbal tea stores (the zhengzhongping, Fuhua), coffee(starbucks), teahouse. These beverage outlets are generally chain operations, strong popularity and have the fixed customer base, deeply by the Singapore people love, so those beverage outlets have strong Competitiveness. Faced with strong competitors ¼Ã…’Company should actively learn from competitors strategic approach, constantly to change the self strategy and to develop a long-term goal, flower tea stores spirit of health, weight-loss, beauty and other characteristics, must be able to build a new field. 3.2.3 Threat of new entrants (weak) The arrival of new competitors will inevitably break the equilibrium in the market, caused by the reaction of existing competitors compete ¼Ã…’it is inevitable to transferred the new resource used to compete, so make gains reduce. Factors affect of potential entrants: Price advantage, capital investment, government policy is to protect, economies of scale, brand influence, the high cost of conversion, the retaliatory confrontation and exclusive possession of the product. The flower tea store appear as a relatively new drinks ¼Ã…’Is relatively rare in China, especially in Singapore, flower tea store have a very small threat of new entrants, the biggest threat may come from and teahouse. Since teahouse and flower tea store is a similar type, flower tea belongs to a kind of tea, China is the worlds earliest discovered tea tree country, and also is the first national cultivation of tea tree. Chinese tea culture has a long history, the Chinese people in their daily life are inseparable from the tea, and more and more foreigners also had a keen interest in Chinas tea culture. Singapore has 74.1% of the Chinese (2010), so flower tea peer competition is from the teahouse. Flower tea store should actively to face competition from new entrants, and learn from each other, and continue to progress. Of the threat as a motive power, in order to remain invincible in the fierce competitive environment, obtaining à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬ ¹Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬ ¹the largest gains. 3.2.3 Bargaining power of buyers (weak) If the buyer is have the bargaining power. They will take advantage of it. This will reduce the companys profits and its results are the impact of the rate of return. Factors affecting the buyers ability to: bargaining power, access to information, brand recognition, price sensitivity, backward integration, the selection of alternatives, incentive systems, such as government subsidies. The flowers tea industry in different regions will have different results, if in the Chinese market, the tea industry competition is very strong, This means that customers will have more choice, if the Operators want to get more benefits and customers in a competitive environment, It must reduce prices or improve the quality of products and services in order to attract more customers, and thereby gain interest. In this case, the buyers bargaining power is strong. However the flowers tea shops in the Singapore market is a fledgling stage, mainly competitors is from the alternatives industrys, Competition in the same industry is relatively small, The flowers tea stores in the spirit of the excellent quality of itself, the product owned health and beauty, slimming features, Most customers will be attracted by the characteristics of the product itself, especially female customers will be interested by the beauty and slimming function. In this case, the buyers bargaining power is relatively weak. 3.2.4 Bargaining power of suppliers (medium) The bargaining power of suppliers is contrast with the buyer, the suppliers will try to raise prices; its results will also affect the companys rate of return. Factors that influence the ability of suppliers: Concentration of suppliers, the importance of the product of the number of suppliers, invest the difference, investment cost and differentiation, alternative products inputs presence, threat of forward integration, the cost in the purchasing power of the relative industry. Singapores population high density, more people and less land, coupled with the perennial high temperatures and rainy and other environmental problems. So flowers tea is mainly dependent on imports, Currently able to supply the flowers tea shops of the products have Chinese ¼Ã…’Germany, France, UK, Australia, Canada and other countries. Due to the limited cost and China is a country has a long history of tea culture, close to Singapore, can be reduce the cost of imports. So most import source from China, due to china has many tea suppliers and its mainly distributed in South China region, however, for a single type flower tea suppliers is relatively less, flower tea in China is in the initial stage, although the development of very fast, but still there is no more tea suppliers, so the bargaining power of suppliers is middle. 3.2.5 The threat of substitute  ¼Ã‹â€ medium ¼Ã¢â‚¬ ° The existence of alternative flowers tea products and services on the market that means that the flowers tea product prices will be limited. Factors affecting the substitutes: conversion costs ¼Ã…’the preference of the buyer of the alternatives, cost performance of the alternatives and alternative relationship. With the development of science and technology, appeared a growing number of substitute products. Substitutes is means the two products exists the competing sales relationship ¼Ã…’That the increase in the sales of a product that will reduce the potential sales of another product. Flower tea store in the Singapore market substitutes was herbal tea shop, like FuHua. The two stores have the same characteristics, health. Herbal tea shop popular in Singapore for a long time, Herbal tea shops usually provide customers with finished ¼Ã…’can be drunk directly, cheap and convenient features already have some loyal customers ¼Ã…’and have strong profitability. So it will bring greater pressure on some of the companys original products ¼Ã…’Sometimes had to reduce prices in order to increase sales ¼Ã…’this makes some price constraints on a lower level, the Company in a passive position in the competition. flower tea shops own start-up capital is relatively small, the conversion costs of the substitutes is small, then the herb tea shop on the pressure brought by the company will be bigger. So can be drawn by said threat of substitutes is relatively medium. Flower tea stores should be taken to reduce the price of a product, same time vigorously to promote have anti-obesity product, and this will not only improve the sales of the product, but will also reduce the sales of substitute products. This at the expense of a product, stable development of another product strategy, can improve the popularity of the product and the companies, at the same time leave a good image in the minds of customers. 3.3 SWOT analysis The SWOT analysis is a strategic planning tool used to evaluate the Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats of a company, it provides information that is helpful in matching the companys resources and capabilities to the competitive environment in which it operates .the resulting SWOT matrix contrasts the results of the internal analysis (strengths and weakness) and the external analysis (opportunities and threats) to define strategic fields of action. That application of a SWOT analysis is therefore instrumental in strategy formulation and selection. (Nadine and Anne 2009) 3.3.1 Strengths Health Beauty More innovative Price is moderate Easy to preserve, quality is relatively stable Herbal tea is known as health tea, in the West, flowers tea called Herbal Tea, A beverage based on the herb for the preparation of raw materials. Flowers tea market in Singapore is a whole new market. Has the characteristic of the return to nature, health, health and beauty, is a romantic casual drink. Herbal tea possess the efficacy of herbal tea, but the sweet smell taste far inferior to Herbal tea, natural majority of young people are choosing the latter. Price is moderate to possess a wide range of consumption basis, flowers tea is unlike the green tea, oolong tea, Puer tea mostly positioned in the ranks the high-end products, flowers tea product positioning in the low-end, easy to form a scale, and has the a wide range of consumption basis. Flowers tea is easy to save, the quality is relatively stable. Flower tea is relatively the green tea and oolong tea that is relatively easy is saved. The flower tea is reprocessing tea ¼Ã…’in flower tea production process, through the blending ¼Ã…’plastic and other delicate process, processing of the tea quality maintain a relatively stable, easy to formation of scale and brand management. 3.3.2 Weakness Brand awareness is small Competitor multi High Manage risk flower tea shop is an emerging industry in Singapore ¼Ã…’Singapore market are mostly packed flower tea. No one tea shop can be provided to the customer a space drinks tea and provide ready-made flower tea drinks. This emerging flower tea shop is relatively not having the brand awareness in Singapore market. Flower tea shop in beverage market possesses many competitors, such as coffee shops, herbal tea shops and milk tea shop. these drinks for Singapore consumers have a great affection ¼Ã…’These drinks shop can attract different sectors of consumer groups and have a fixed customer base. Many shops are chain management, with a strong brand awareness and competitiveness. Flower tea shop belonging the early start, have strong manage risk, improper management typically include: Arbitrary decision-making, information barrier ¼Ã…’Concept is unclear, worry about the outcome ¼Ã…’Choosing the wrong people ¼Ã…’ignore the innovation ¼Ã…’Eager to succeed ¼Ã…’Blindly follow the trend, Weak-willed so on. Especially early start by a single of knowledge, Lack of experience, financial strength and mental quality obviously insufficient, Will increase in management of risk. 3.3.3 Opportunities Huge consumer market The pursuit of health Singapore is tropical rainforest climate In Singapore, the proportion of women and men is 1:0.95, people between 15-64 years of age accounted for 77% of the total population of Singapore(2010), and Herbal tea positioned of major consumer group is women and young people. With the continuous development of society, Consumers in pursuit of the simple life while also increasing emphasis on health issues. Consumers in the purchase of product will also pay attention to that product impact on health and the environment, natural without any additives food has become the darling of the modern society. Flowers tea without any additives also has a healthy, weight-loss, beauty and other effects will naturally by the majority of consumers love, especially female consumers. Consumer to the health commodity needs will make the flowers tea with a huge space for development. The Singapore in equatorial online, so year round in the tropical rain forest climate, hot, rainy natural environment is easy to bring heat stroke and other discomfort. Singapore people for reduce pathogenic drinks have very large demand; flowers tea has a lot of the product itself that owned have Reduce Pathogenic effect, and tasty, beautiful appearance. So the flower tea will be welcomed by the people of Singapore. 3.3.4 Threats Beauty and lose weight method is more and more Consumers have a certain degree of drinking habits In the technological advances of today, beauty and lose weight method is more and more, like skin care products and plastic surgery. People will choose the direct use of skin care products to beauty, the effect is more obvious and more quickly. but want to use the flower tea to achieve weight-loss and beauty effect that must be kept within a period of time to drink tea in every day, the effect and speed was not as good as cosmetics to the better, So this is a threat for flowers tea. Most consumers already have some drinking habits. Such as tea, milk, coffee, milk, juice, cola, herbal tea and other drinks has been deep into the minds of consumers, and these drinks are widely distributed, easy to buy , each customer will could paying for these drinks, flower tea shop wants to change the habits of the customer will be more difficult. The customers for drinking habits will generate some threats and obstacles for flowers tea sales. 3.4 Competitor analysis There are various forms of commercial competition in the market, these competitions from several competitors and the level of competition is increasingly fierce. In this competitive environment, upper policymakers main task is the precise positioning of the company, accurately locked resources as well as according to their environment to capitalize on the trend. Therefore, whether skilled business and competitive analysis will determine whether a company has competitiveness and whether it also allowed them to benefit the interests of the partners. Flower tea stores in Singapores one of the biggest competitors is KOI Cafe. In fact, the popular for pearl milk tea in Singapore has subsided awaited, but ¼Ã…’the 50 LAN from Taiwan with a unique marketing mode that won the favor of the handsome boys girls. History of the Sound Card :: essays research papers

History of the Sound Card: How it Came About The very first sound card every manufactured was a Sound Blaster card. Far West was the manufacturer of the first Sound Blaster sound card. Let’s step back a little in time to take a look back at when sound cards haven’t even yet existed. â€Å"Computers were never designed to handle sound.† Before sound cards were invented, the only sounds you would hear from a computer would be the beeps that would tell you if something was wrong with the computer. That’s all! No sounds would accompany any games, you couldn’t play music at all, nothing! Computer programmers wanted to use the beeps for games they created, and so they would program the beeps into their games. However, it would be â€Å"awful music as an accompaniment to games like Space Invaders†. Far West came up with the solution, thus the invention of the first Sound Blaster sound card. It still wasn’t good quality music, but it was a big step up from just the beeps. â€Å"It could record real audio and play it back, something of a quantum leap. It also had a MIDI interface, still common on sound cards today, which could control synthesizers, samplers and other electronic music equipment†. The first sound card was of 8 bit 11 kHz audio quality, similar to an AM radio. There are two parts to the â€Å"complicated piece of electronics†, the sound card. ADC and DAC were they. ADC is the analog-to-digital converter and DAC being the opposite (digital-to-analog converter). ADC took an analog signal from a device and converts it to digital signals for the computer to use, as DAC did the exact opposite, taking a digital signal and converting it to analog. However, in the future, there will be no use of ADC and DAC since â€Å"both speakers and microphones will be able to directly record and playback digital signals directly†. An example of ADC would be a sound through the microphone being recorded into the computer. A CD player is an example of a device that uses DAC.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Digital audio has its advantages. One would be that â€Å"no matter how many times it is copied it remains identical†. It does not degrade analogue sources. An example of an analogue source is vinyl. A leap up to 16 bit 44.1 kHz was a major development. This is the quality of a CD. This became a problem for the ISA bus.
